About us - Partner 3: Barcelona Site

We perform small RNA-seq to detect miRNA and other non-coding RNAs (tRNAs, piRNAs snRNAs, snoRNAs etc.) through the CRG Genomics Facility. We also perform the basic bioinformatics analyses: detection of DE genes, network analysis with miRNA targets, and enrichment analysis. Results will be validated through qPCRs on independent samples.

PROMPT OFFICIAL TEAM DESCRIPTION

Dr. Mara Dierssen (MD, PhD) leads the Cell and Systems Neurobiology group of the Systems Biology Programme at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona.

The overall goal of her research is to understand cognition as an emergent property of neural networks and how genetic perturbations in mental disorders modify the way the brain integrates information and produces behaviour and cognition. She is a world expert in the field of neurobiology and pharmacology.

María Martínez de Lagrán Cabredo (PhD in Neuroscience) is a Post Doctoral researcher/Lab manager in the Cellular and Systems Neurobiology group at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG). Within the PROMPT project, she coordinates the RNA samples processing to sequence small RNAs. She is involved in the translation and the distribution of online surveys.

Nicola Lorenzon (M.Sc. in Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology) is a PhD student in the Cellular and Systems Neurobiology group at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG). Within the PROMPT project, he is responsible for the analysis of small RNA data for Phases 1 and 2. As part of the associated LA MARATÓ project, he is primarily responsible for validating the miRNA expression in a novel TRD mouse model and conducting bioinformatic analyses to identify plasma protein signatures in both human and murine models.

Gabriele Picarella is the head of the Center for Genomic Regulation (CRG) Grants Office. He was responsible for evaluating administrative issues and managing the successful execution of the PROMPT project.

PROMPT COLLABORATORS

Fernando Rodriguez de Fonseca (MD and PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) leads the laboratory of Neuropsychopharmacology in the Instituto IBIMA (Málaga, Spain). In the context of the associated LA MARATÓ project, he is primarily responsible of the development and characterization of a novel TRD mouse model.

PROMPT FORMER TEAM MEMBERS

Cèsar-lluís Sierra Noguera (PhD Molecular Biology) worked as post-doctoral researcher in the Cellular and Systems Neurobiology group at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG). Within PROMPT project, he was involved in the implementation of the RNA samples processing for Phase 1.
